The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme is the central government’s flagship income support program for farmers. Since its launch in 2019, it has transferred over ₹2.8 lakh crore to more than 11 crore farmer families.

What is PM-KISAN?

Under this scheme, eligible farmer families receive ₹6,000 per year in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each, directly into their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Eligibility Criteria

The scheme covers all small and marginal farmer families who hold cultivable land in their names, subject to exclusions.

Who is NOT Eligible?

  • Current or retired employees of State/Central Government (except Group D employees).
  • Former or present holders of constitutional posts.
  • Retired/serving officers and employees of PSUs and government autonomous bodies.
  • All persons who pay Income Tax.
  • Professionals such as doctors, engineers, lawyers, and chartered accountants.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official PM-KISAN portal at pmkisan.gov.in.
  2. Click “New Farmer Registration.”
  3. Enter your Aadhaar number, state, and mobile number.
  4. Fill in land and bank account details.
  5. Submit and await verification by local authorities.

eKYC is Mandatory

All beneficiaries must complete eKYC to continue receiving installments. This can be done online via OTP authentication on the PM-KISAN portal or at the nearest CSC centre.
